Can I still work if I’m rated 100%?

Dear Veteran,

One of the most common questions we get at Winning Strategy for Disabled Veterans (WSDV) is:

“Can I still work if I’m rated 100%?”

The short answer? Yes.

In fact, if you’re rated 100% Schedular or 100% Permanent & Total (P&T) by the VA — you are absolutely allowed to work, run a business, or even take on a new career. Your rating does not prevent you from earning an income.

What many veterans don’t realize is that 100% P&T means the VA recognizes your service-connected conditions are unlikely to improve — but it doesn’t mean you’re unemployable (unless you were rated as TDIU).

Here’s the key distinction:   •   100% P&T Rating: You’re free to work.   •   TDIU (Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability): Limits your ability to maintain “substantial gainful employment.”

Why is this important?Because you may be leaving thousands — even millions — of dollars in tax-free lifetime benefits on the table by not pursuing the rating you’ve rightfully earned. And you may be avoiding the process out of fear or misinformation.

We’re here to change that.

At WSDV, we’ve helped thousands of veterans:

  • Understand the VA rating system
  • Maximize their ratings
  • Get the tax-free monthly income they deserve
  • Keep working if they choose to

If you’ve ever thought:

  • “I don’t want to stop working…”
  • “I probably won’t qualify…”
  • “It’s too complicated to deal with the VA…”
